BOYS
Venue: Taunton
Team: Jasper, Hector, Finlay and Reuben
Captains: Lewis Fletcher and Neil Watts
Our U12 team faced some challenging competition in the County Cup. On the first day, we went up against Hampshire and Cornwall, two exceptionally strong teams that ultimately finished 1st and 2nd out of the five counties present. Neil and I knew it would be a tough task to climb high in the standings, so we encouraged the boys to focus on enjoying the experience, playing with freedom, and learning as much as they could from the weekend.
Day two (Sunday) brought more competitive play, with two intense match shootouts against Channel Islands and Somerset. Many of the matches were incredibly close and could have swung either way. In the end, the boys secured one of the shootouts and finished 4th overall.
A huge thank you goes out to the parents for their unwavering support throughout the weekend. Until next year, let’s keep working hard and building on this experience!

GIRLS
Venue: Ivybridge
Team: Daisy, Alice, Una, Sophia and Sienna
Captains: Neil Little and Dave Morris
Day 1 – The Wiltshire girls started the weekend against Somerset, with good singles wins for Daisy and Alice. Unfortunately losses for Una and Sophia meant we were tied at 2-2 after singles. Onto the doubles and Alice and Sienna got a good win to leave us 3-3 after doubles with a tight loss for Daisy and Sophia. Sophia teamed up with Sienna for the tiebreak shootout, with the girls coming through impressively to get the win!
Our next match saw the girls take on Cornwall with singles wins for Sienna, Alice and Sophia putting us 3-1 up after singles. Unfortunately we lost both doubles, the 2nd one 10-7 in a match tie break. Meaning we headed to another shootout with again Sophia and Sienna teaming up to win another shootout!
Day 2 – First up on day 2 for the girls was Gloucestershire, there was some great tennis played with lots of closes matches that could have gone either way. So it was quite fitting that we were 2-2 after singles and 3-3 after doubles with singles wins for Sophia and Sienna and a doubles win for Una and Alice. This meant another shootout with Sophia and Sienna again teaming up but this time just losing out to the Gloucestershire pair.
Our last match of the weekend brought the girls up against Devon which saw us 3-1 down after the singles with only Alice winning. Despite a tough match tie break loss for Daisy, it meant we needed to win both doubles matches in order to force another shootout. Unfortunately we only managed to win one of those with Sophia and Una winning their match.
Overall the girls played some great tennis across the weekend and had lots of fun along the way. The girls were a pleasure to work with and supported each other really well over the weekend.
