12U Boys – Bideford
Team – Harry, Andrew, Josh, Joel. Jacob
Captain – Neil Little
Day 1- The boys started against Cornwall and were 2-2 after singles. With great wins for Josh and Harry, both showing great character to come back from being a set down. Onto the doubles and Andrew and Joel came through with a big win, with some excellent teamwork and net play. Unfortunately, Harry and Josh lost a match tie break in a tight game which could have gone either way. We headed into a shootout, with Andrew and Harry playing, it was extremely tight with both pairs playing a tight breaker with lots of long rallies and few mistakes, unfortunately after being 8-6 up we lost a few really long rallies to lose 10-8. However spirits were lifted with a fun team meal which included lots of pizza and milkshakes at a local pub!
Day 2 – We knew it would be tough against a very strong Avon team however the boys dug deep and got stuck in. However similar story to the day before lots of sudden death deuces and more tie breaks which we ended up losing 3 of the 4 singles matches in match tie breaks. That meant that we’d finish 3rd in our group and would next face the Channel Islands.
They boys got off to a great start against the Channel Islands and we had straight set wins in all the singles matches for Joel, Josh, Harry and Andrew. Then onto the doubles we mixed the pairs around a bit and had close matches but both pairs of Andrew and Joel and Harry and Jacob got the wins meaning we’d finish with a 6-0 win!
Overall despite the disappointment from the numerous sudden death deuces and tie breaks that didn’t go our way, the boys had a great weekend and all got on really well and played some great tennis and hopefully something to build on for next year! Well done to Andrew, Harry, Josh, Joel and Jacob!

12U Girls – Exeter
Team – Mia, Pheobe, Nicole and Daisy
Captain- Lewis Fletcher and Matt Rutland
The Girls did very well on the 1st day taking down Somerset and Cornwall. Not only as a team but some fine individual performances especially from being down a set and 3-0 to come back and win.
The team always knew the Sunday Schedule would be tougher especially as we were up against Avon who had depth in the team. However, what pleased me most, is the girls bouncimg back to beat Devon straight after a defeat which meant we finished 2nd place out of the 5 counties over the weekend.
Well Done girls!!!
