14U GIRLS

The Under 14 girls had an amazing weekend in Devon. We played teams from Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and South Wales. This team have been together for a long time and the spirit and enjoyment they all get from being with each other is clear to see.
We deservedly romped to victory winning every match with ease. Victories against Somerset and South Wales on day one followed by further wins against Devon and Cornwall saw us win the event.
It was a fitting end for the girls Under 14 journey together who I know will be just as successful now they are all in the Under 18 County side. Many congratulations to all the girls – we re incredibly proud of all the girls for their efforts and the way they represent the County.

14U BOYS
VENUE: Royal Wootton Bassett TC
GROUP: 2D
CAPTAINS: Dave Morris, Lewis Fletcher, Neil Little
PLAYERS Jasper, Zach, Henry, Pierre, Hector
With a young side the boys had a very successful county cup. Wiltshire were the hosts at Royal Wotton Bassett. Day 1 we played Channel Islands first and got a 5-1 Win the boys played some strong tennis and won both doubles matches. Then the boys had a close encounter with Somerset and got a 2-4 loss, we were 3-1 down after singles and were close in the doubles to force a shootout but couldn’t get over the line.
The boys then went for a team meal to bring them all together after a long day on the courts they all loved the burgers!
Day 2 bought a tough challenge having to face the top 2 counties at the event. First matches were Vs Sussex, special mention to Henry who won an amazing match in a match Tie breaker after 2 set tiebreaks in the same match, the match was 2 hours and 20 mins long and Henry showed the true fighting spirit we have in Wiltshire tennis. Unfortunately, Sussex proved too strong for the boys in the doubles, one of the doubles matches went also to a match tie break so could have gone either way! Their last match was vs Cornwall where the boys unfortunately lost to an older more experienced side 6-0.
These boys should be super proud of how they represented Wiltshire tennis over the weekend with a great team spirit! Whilst the placing looks tough the boys learned so much over the weekend and really grew as a group towards the end. Big shoutout to Pierre and Henry as this was their last 14U county cup hope they all enjoyed the experience.
