18U Girls – Edgbaston
The 18U girls were at Edgbaston for the County Cup event. After a shaky start and finding ourselves 2-0 down against Bedfordshire after the first 2 matches, the girls did brilliantly to convert and storm to a 7-2 win. A great start on day 1.
On our second day we played West of Scotland – after the singles our number 1 and 2 seeds kept us in the match after winning their singles meaning it was all down to the doubles. Unfortunately, this time we were unable to convert losing all the doubles rubbers thus a 7-2 loss.
All down to the final day and our aim was to stay in the same division at a minimum. After the singles matches, Wiltshire girls found themselves in the same situation as day 2 after the singles rubbers – 4-2 down. Our 3rd pair put on a fine doubles performance and were very unlucky not to be able to clinch the match, losing 7-10 in the match tie break. If they had, we would have still been in the match. Great effort from the girls and we did enough to stay in the group, finishing 3rd overall – we will be back next year ready to go again!!!
Thank you to all for supporting the team and the county for their commitment. Well done to all the players.

18U BOYS – SHREWSBURY
Wiltshire Under 18 County Team were competing in Ellesmere near Shrewsbury this week and managed to gain promotion for the loss of just 2 matches.
It was an excellent weekend where the team clicked so well on and off court and the performances were a sign of how comfortable they all were. The support throughout was as it always is for the Wiltshire Warriors.
On day one the team beat North Wales 8-1. Anthony and Elliott set the weekend up nicely with 2 commanding performances and the success rolled on from there.
On day 2 we beat a very young side from the Channel Islands 9-0.
This left the two unbeaten side to face off on the final day.
We thought it would be a tight contest but we weren’t even required to play doubles as we’d already secured a 5-1 victory with our number 1 William finishing things off in style.
A great team effort from a side who would have done very well had they had the opportunity to compete last year.
A big thank you to William, Seb, Rex and Elliott who are in their last year at the 18U age group.
With some younger players coming in to the side we look forward to an exciting future ahead.
