Wiltshire Ladies had their most promising set of results across the age groups during the 2023 Senior County championships, securing 2nd place for the Over 50s ,55s and 60s in their respective which should ensure promotions for 2024.
The over 40s continuing to consolidate and develop as a team under Helen Benton, Capt, and had tight losses against Suffolk and Oxfordshire and a good 3-2 win away in Oxfordshire.
The Over 50s justified our decision to appeal a result from last year and secured second place in Group 2A with June Keen completing the season undefeated in both her singles and doubles rubbers. Fantastic support play from Karina Weedon who won 5 out of her 6 rubbers.
The Over 55s secured 2nd place in their group 2 and are looking forward to challenging themselves in a higher division this year.
Over 60s, under the guidance of Liz Crossley, beat their Tie Break curse from the 2022 season going on to secure 2nd place in 3b. Excellent doubles play saw wins against Berkshire, Cornwall and Suffolk along with a close loss v Sussex.
The over 65s continue to fly the County flag far and wide, and a good win against Essex helped their confidence ahead of this years competition.
As always, thanks to all the Wiltshire Clubs who have so willingly hosted our full County get togethers and squad practices. It makes our roles so much easier to know we have the wider support across Wiltshire.
