Wiltshire County Play Your Way to Wimbledon 14U County Finals

It was fitting to be running the Wiltshire County Play Your Way to Wimbledon 14u County Finals the weekend before the start of the Championships and the matches didn’t disappoint.  Thank you to Pewsey Tennis Club for being the host of this amazing event.

Both the boys and girls competitors took to the court just past 10am and the matches didn’t disappoint with some hard fought tiebreaks.  There were tears and celebrations with matches played with great sportsmanship and fair play and the players draw ebbed closer to the finals.

With a small draw of girls the format was a round robin with Mia winning her two matches to qualify for the National Finals – she took it to tie break in a thrilling third set against Emily who played with grit and determination.

The boys matches were intense and up and down like a rollercoaster – Huckleberry and Andrew were both successful in reaching the last round – it was an all Ramsbury Tennis Club final overseen by the keen eye of Roger Henry.  With a tense first set going to Huckleberry on tie break the stage was set for an exciting second set and despite some amazing points and rallies Andrew was unable to convert the tie break in the second leaving Huckleberry victorious.  The match was thrilling and both players should be very proud of their achievements.

We look forward to seeing the pictures from Wimbledon when Mia and Huckleberry take to the grass courts at the beginning of August.

Keep an eye out at the beginning of next year for your chance to be a part of the Wimbledon dream.
