Wiltshire Tennis are delighted to announce the local heroes who are honoured as part of the LTA Tennis Awards.
Mark Tyrrell of Marshfield TC has been named the Volunteer of the Year for Wiltshire. Throughout the many challenges of 2020 Mark has shown a great dedication to ensuring that the club continue to thrives.
Other winners include Craig Loxton from Swindon Tennis Centre who was awarded the Coach of the Year. Craig has shown fantastic teamwork and leadership skills to help the venue grow their programme substantially.
Riverside TC (Club of the Year), Swindon Tennis Centre (Communities and Parks Award) and St Marys Calne Tennis Academy (Education Award) are celebrating being awarded the best venues in the county for tennis, based on criteria such as coaching and opportunities to play.
Liz Bissett, Wiltshire Tennis Secretary and LTA Councillor commented: “The standard of the entries was really high and we’d like to congratulate all of the winners. The judges had a tough job to select the winners and it is heartening to award those who put so much effort into tennis in their venues ”
The awards are an initiative by the LTA and champion the people who deliver tennis.
- Volunteer of the Year Award – Mark Tyrrell (Marshfield TC)
- Coach of the Year Award – Craig Loxton (Swindon Tennis Centre)
- Club of the Year Award – Riverside TC
- Communities and Parks Award – Swindon Tennis Centre
- Education Award – St Mary’s Calne Tennis Academy
The winners will receive their county awards at their venue once restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so.
The winners now go through to a regional judging panel with regional winners announced in April. The national ceremony will be held later in the year.
